In 1988, the Labour Court found that a worker’s dismissal by Dun Laoghaire Discount was unfair and recommended £300 compensation. The recommendation was signed on 29 August 1988. The cashier was dismissed after cash-register shortfalls. The employer said the discrepancies happened regularly and that it had warned her to improve her accuracy. The Court found the arrangements for her employment, advice about her progress and monitoring of the register unsatisfactory, and recommended the payment in full and final settlement of her claim.
