In 1989, the Labour Court recommended that the Irish Transport and General Workers’ Union and the Amalgamated Transport and General Workers’ Union accept Packard Electric Limited’s form of procedure for the agreement through 1991. The recommendation was signed on 12 July 1989. The dispute concerned renewal of a comprehensive agreement and the company’s proposed binding undertaking on industrial action. The Court said the undertaking required by the company for the current agreement should be conceded, and noted that the company would be prepared to accept the unions’ proposed form for the next agreement.
