The Labour Court recommended that Dunnes Stores (Bishopstown) Limited withdraw its threat of disciplinary action against staff who declined Saturday evening stocktaking beyond their contractual overtime commitments. The recommendation was signed on 24 August 1989. The Irish Distributive and Administrative Trade Union said staff without a contractual availability obligation had been threatened after refusing to take part. The Court said staff must comply with their overtime conditions but need not exceed them without a negotiated agreement. It also recommended that the company and union negotiate a settlement.
