The Labour Court recommended that a worker accept the terms negotiated by Switzer and Company and the Irish Distributive and Administrative Trade Union after she was demoted from department sales manager to sales assistant. The recommendation was signed on 28 August 1989. The union argued she had been unfairly blamed for problems that existed before she took over the electrical department and sought her reinstatement as a department sales manager. Switzer and Company said she had failed to address administration and security problems despite warnings and management support. The Court found she had not managed the difficult department effectively and recommended she accept the original agreement between the company and the union.
