Labour Court recommends rota for Dunnes Stores car park duties

By Tadhg O'Sullivan

Labour Court ·

In 1990, the Labour Court recommended that Dunnes Stores (Cornelscourt) Ltd and the Irish Distributive and Administrative Trade Union discuss a rota for permanent staff assigned to car park duties at the Cornelscourt branch. The recommendation was signed on 5 February 1990. The Court said it was unreasonable to assign permanent staff indefinitely to car park work if they had not been hired specifically for it. It recommended considering whether long-serving employees could be excluded from the rota and reassigning the worker involved to sales assistant duties within three months of taking up the latest car park assignment. Management did not attend the hearing.
