The Labour Court did not recommend concession of the National Engineering Electrical Trade Union’s claim for an additional fitter and welder at Irish Glass Bottle Company Limited. The recommendation was signed on 7 May 1990. The union said staffing had fallen after rationalisation while machinery and maintenance work had increased. The company argued current staffing was adequate, citing its average fitter numbers and use of contractors for major work.
