The Labour Court recommended increasing redundancy compensation for six workers at Carlton Productions Limited to statutory basic entitlement plus £200 for each year of service. The recommendation was signed on 14 May 1990. The company had planned to cease record pressing and tape duplication. Its existing agreement with the union provided statutory entitlement plus £100 per year of service. The Services, Industrial, Professional, Technical Union sought an additional two weeks’ pay per year of service. The union had agreed to be bound by the Court’s recommendation, made after considering submissions from both sides.
