The Labour Court recommended that Irish Bakeries Limited implement an earlier recommendation for a wage increase outstanding since 1 April 1989. The recommendation was signed on 14 June 1990. The Court noted the company's financial difficulties and its commitment to pay the outstanding increases at year-end. It left the Bakery And Food Workers' Amalgamated Union and its members to consider whether to defer enforcement if the company declared it could not pay, pending a review in September or October 1990.
