The Labour Court recommended that the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union accept revised redundancy terms from Irish Industrial Explosives Limited for 47 workers, ranging from £20,000 for 10 to 12 years' service to £40,000 for more than 20 years. The recommendation was signed on 9 August 1990; the figures included statutory entitlements and notice. The Court also recommended a £1,500 payment per employee for the revised working conditions at the new plant. The union had sought £3,000, arguing that workers would face increased hours under a 39-hour week. The company said the change was needed for the new plant and offered £500 to workers who transferred there.
