In 1990, the Labour Court recommended further local discussions on the Irish Distributive and Administrative Trade Union’s recognition claim at Molex S.A. The recommendation was signed on 6 December 1990. The union sought representation and negotiating rights for its members. Molex S.A. opposed recognition, arguing that its staff association and existing grievance arrangements represented workers’ interests. The company did not attend the hearing but sent its position in a letter. The Court recommended further efforts to discuss the issue with members and the company or its representatives.
