In 1991, the Labour Court recommended accepting an Industrial Relations Officer's terms as full settlement of the claim to introduce a 39-hour week at Nokia Limited's Dublin plant. The recommendation was signed on 30 January; the Court said no compensation was warranted. The terms covered the reduction in working hours and arrangements for shifts, breaks and day workers. Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had sought £200 per worker over the loss of five minutes' washing-up time each day.
