In 1991, the Labour Court recommended that John Paul Construction apply its 1981 agreement on subcontractors while negotiations continued. The recommendation was dated 2 August 1991. The Building And Allied Trades' Union had alleged a breach of the construction industry's registered employment agreement covering wages and conditions. The Court found that agreement had not been breached, but recommended that the separate 1981 agreement apply in the interim and that subcontractors comply with it.
