The Labour Court recommended that Schoepp Velours Limited pay two fitters £1,200 each for losing regular on-call income. A third fitter was to receive a pro-rata payment based on call-outs in 1991. The recommendation was signed on 9 January 1992. The National Engineering And Electrical Trade Union had sought a pay increase and compensation after a shift-system change ended the fitters’ call-out earnings. The Court did not recommend continuing a temporary £20 weekly payment to fitters, citing the agreed temporary basis for the payment, an additional fitter and unchanged work volume.
