In 1993, the Labour Court found Finsa Forest Products had breached its agreement with the Marine Port and General Workers’ Union by not insisting that four shift managers remain union members until changes to their responsibilities were negotiated. The Court did not consider the union’s proposal to recruit four additional shift managers tenable. It recommended that negotiations take place immediately. The recommendation was signed on 8 March 1993.
