In 1993, the Labour Court recommended that Braun Ireland Limited and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union try to resolve a claim for higher pay for setters through negotiations on proposed workplace changes. The recommendation was dated 6 May 1993. The Court said the claim should be assessed through the job-evaluation system for industrial employees. Without that assessment, it found no grounds to grant the claim, and recommended that the parties negotiate over changes that would affect the setters.
