The Labour Court recommended a £300 retrospective payment for eligible staff at Brinks - Allied Limited as part of a 39-hour working week settlement. The recommendation, signed on 9 June 1993, covered staff employed on 1 January 1992, with pro-rata payments for those who started later. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had sought the change for about 42 workers from 1 July 1991. Brinks - Allied said it could not afford the retrospective cost, which it estimated at about £26,000. The Court recommended that the 39-hour week take effect from 1 June 1993, with overtime continuing at the existing hourly rate.
