Labour Court recommends Braun Ireland negotiate on proposed 3% increase

By Gráinne Nolan

Labour Court ·

In 1993, the Labour Court recommended that Braun Ireland Limited and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union negotiate on a proposed 3% pay increase under the Programme for Economic and Social Progress. The recommendation was dated 1 July 1993. The union sought the increase without preconditions, saying workers had shown flexibility and co-operation. Braun Ireland Limited said the increase should be funded through productivity changes. The Court recommended immediate negotiations based on productivity, taking account of competitiveness, flexibility and change. If the parties reached agreement, the increase was to take effect from 1 July 1993.
