In 1993, the Labour Court recommended that Quinnsworth (Cavan) Limited apply a 3% P.E.S.P. increase from 29 June, the date of its hearing, and adjust the top of its pay scales by £3 from 1 June 1993 and £2 from 1 January 1994. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had sought the increase from September 1992 and a separate pay adjustment to match comparator stores. Quinnsworth proposed trading changes in return for the increase and offered a phased £5 adjustment. The Court considered the company’s proposals a fair basis for settlement, with amendments including Monday and Tuesday trading until 6.30 p.m.
