In 1994, the Labour Court recommended that Dataproducts) pay a storekeeper and shop steward for time spent at an Amalgamated Engineering Electrical Union.) training course. The recommendation was signed on 23 May 1994. The union sought three days' paid leave for a basic pension course, arguing it would help shop stewards understand pension schemes. Dataproducts said it supported pension education through an employee trustee and had previously granted the worker paid training leave. The Court considered the course particularly important because it covered changes under the Pensions Act, 1990, and recommended that the worker be paid for the time involved.
