The Labour Court recommended that Stet Engineering Limited recognise the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union for negotiating on behalf of its members, in a recommendation signed on 1 June 1994. The union sought recognition to represent workers in discussions about pay and conditions. It said individual dealings with the company made negotiation difficult. Stet Engineering, which made precision parts and employed 34 workers, said relations were good and argued recognition could divide the workforce.
