In 1995, the Labour Court recommended that Allied Signal agree to delete disciplinary warnings from eight workers' records from 1 March 1995. The recommendation was signed on 4 January 1995. The company alleged that the workers had extended tea breaks and taken unauthorised breaks on a night shift; the Technical Electrical And Engineering Union disputed the allegation and said the company had provided no evidence of wrongdoing. The Court identified a significant difference between the company-union agreement and employment contracts over how disciplinary action was recorded, and urged the parties to address it urgently.
