In 1995, the Labour Court recommended that Dun Laoghaire Vocational Educational Committee pay an ex gratia £1,000 to settle a supervisor’s pay claim. The recommendation was signed on 8 June 1995. The worker coordinated the 46A magazine project under the Social Employment Schemes. The Irish Municipal Public and Civil Trade Union argued she should have received the higher rate from the start. The committee said the lower probationary rate reflected the project’s funding arrangements and that later increases recognised her work. The Court noted differing payment arrangements and recommended the payment in full and final settlement.
