The Labour Court did not recommend in favour of a worker’s claim that Cavan County Council failed to consider him for re-employment. The worker did not attend the final hearing, after two earlier hearings were postponed following his non-attendance; the merits were not decided. The recommendation was signed on 12 July 1995. The worker said he had paid superannuation during earlier temporary employment and understood he would be considered when vacancies arose. The council said ten years had passed since his previous employment, he applied formally only in 1992, and financial constraints limited recruitment.
