In 1996, the Labour Court recommended a full-time salary scale for Trinity Credit Union clerical employees, starting at £9,000 and rising by £1,000 increments to £13,000, then by £500 to £13,500. The present incumbent was to enter at £11,000. Part-time employees were to receive the proportionate rate, and existing weekly hours were to continue. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union argued that credit-union staff did work of equal value and that Trinity's 38.5-hour week exceeded the clerical-sector average. Trinity cited its local membership restrictions and limited available capital. The recommendation was dated 29 January 1996.
