In 1996, the Labour Court recommended how Trinity College’s pension scheme should apply to workers in different PRSI categories, clarifying an earlier recommendation sought by Trinity College and ICTU. Workers in the A1 PRSI category before 6 April 1995 were to keep benefits under the scheme rules that applied before an August 1994 amendment. Workers whose pensionable employment began on or after 6 April 1995 were to have their occupational pensions coordinated with the State Pension under the amended rules. The recommendation was signed on 17 May 1996.
