In 1996, the Labour Court recommended that Dublin Institute Of Technology pay a temporary technician at the penultimate point of the technician salary scale. The recommendation, dated 4 November 1996, followed a dispute over increments for a worker who had 14 years' service. Manufacturing Science Finance said the worker had received no increments and sought placement at the penultimate point, with a lump sum for past losses. The Institute said he had been told he would be paid at the first point and did not hold the qualifications required for incremental credit.
