The Labour Court recommended changes to Irish Life’s proposed restructuring of its sales force, including increased payments for personal financial advisers transferring to home service roles. The recommendation, made after a dispute with Manufacturing, Science, Finance, was signed on 17 January 1997. The Court recommended raising a payment after six months from £1,500 to £5,000, increasing commission rates for set periods, and raising the examination bonus from £300 to £400. It also recommended flexibility around collection targets, action on staff security and a way to address complaints of unfair treatment. The Court said the company needed to change how it operated but should account for uncertainty among affected employees.
