In 1997, the Labour Court found that Stationery Store unfairly dismissed a worker who said she was let go after attending an interview for another job. The Court recommended compensation equivalent to three months’ salary and a suitable reference. Its recommendation was dated 28 August 1997. The company said it had concerns about her performance and conduct, and began looking for a replacement after learning she was applying for jobs elsewhere.
