The Labour Court recommended that four Residential Care Centre workers receive appropriate night and weekend premium rates backdated to their appointment dates. The recommendation was dated 14 May 1998. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought the payments, arguing that the workers were entitled to parity with non-nursing Group IV staff. The Centre said it had no objection but depended on Health Board funding. The Court found the union’s case well founded and left calculation and payment arrangements for discussion between the parties.
