In 1998, the Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union's claim for compensation for four workers who lost Saturday overtime at Wexford Creamery. The union argued the workers were contracted for a six-day week and would lose earnings. The company said they had opted not to work Saturdays and had no established pattern of winter Saturday work. The recommendation was signed on 18 August 1998.
