The Labour Court found that Padraichins Pub & Restaurant had unfairly dismissed a chef and recommended a £500 donation to a charity he nominated. The recommendation was signed on 15 December 1999. The worker said he received no proper explanation for his dismissal and sought vindication rather than compensation. The restaurant said customer complaints about food and slow service led it to dismiss him for incompetence. The Court found that it had not followed fair procedures and that the worker was also treated unfairly on substantial grounds.
