The Labour Court recommended changes to terms for 18 clerical workers relocating from Portlaoise to Newbridge, including extending subsidised bus transport and the voluntary redundancy package to the end of December 2000. The recommendation was dated 6 June 2000. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought ongoing compensation for increased travel and childcare costs and an unrestricted voluntary redundancy option. Bord Na Mona said the Newbridge move better supported the business and avoided higher construction costs at Portlaoise.
