The Labour Court recommended that Nazareth House concede the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s claim for pay and conditions on a basis similar to an earlier recommendation, in a recommendation dated 25 July 2000. The claim covered about 75 care assistants and kitchen staff seeking parity with comparable North Western Health Board staff. The Court said employees should not receive less than their personal entitlement because of the funding arrangement. It considered management’s handling of millennium payments reasonable given the organisation’s financial position.
