Labour Court declines Ericsson union’s relocation compensation claim

By Ruairí Dolan

Labour Court ·

The Labour Court did not recommend compensation for 95 L.M. Ericsson Limited workers moved from Beech Hill, Clonskeagh, to Dun Laoghaire. Its recommendation was signed on 24 August 2000. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought payment, saying the move increased workers’ travel time and expenses and had not been preceded by consultation. The company said workers already received a city allowance and that the move concentrated resources. The Court declined to recommend concession of the union’s claim.
