Labour Court recommends £3,000 payment over Crazy Prices Ballyfermot refurbishment

By Orla Quinn

Labour Court ·

The Labour Court recommended that Tesco Ireland pay £3,000 into the staff social fund in full and final settlement of a claim over disruption during refurbishment of its Crazy Prices Ballyfermot store. The recommendation was signed on 26 January 2001. Mandate, representing about 100 employees, sought individual compensation and extra leave, saying workers experienced differing levels and durations of inconvenience. Tesco Ireland offered £2,000 for the extended refurbishment period. The Court said payments should account for the extent and duration of disruption. It recommended extending the amount by a further £1,000, bringing the payment to £3,000.
