The Labour Court recommended that Galway Harbour Board concede the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s claim for a pay increase for general operatives, subject to possible cost-offsetting measures. The recommendation was signed on 12 April 2001. The union said the workers’ pay was linked by agreement to Galway Corporation general operatives. The Court had regard to the long-standing pay relationship between the Galway Harbour Company and Galway Corporation.
