In 2001, the Labour Court recommended that the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union pay a worker £5,000 in compensation in full and final settlement of the claims before it. The recommendation was dated 8 June 2001. An independent report found the union’s conduct towards the worker fell below what could reasonably be expected of a professional organisation, and both sides accepted the report. The Court found the procedures for two promotional posts fair and transparent, with the allegations about those selections unconfirmed by the evidence.
