The Labour Court recommended an annual rate of £22,033.15 for Senior Depotpersons and Parcels Depotpersons at Iarnród Éireann, with pro-rata adjustments for longer contracts. The recommendation, signed on 5 September 2001, followed a dispute with the National Bus and Rail Union and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union over restructuring, pay and working arrangements. The Court recommended maintaining the existing link to Signal Person Grade 2 and contract hours from 39 to 48, based on the company’s operational needs. It did not recommend the unions’ claim to limit contracts to 43, 45 or 48 hours. The Court also called for further talks on a longer salary scale for new entrants and unified negotiating structures.
