Labour Court recommends talks on 44 additional hospital posts

By Fionn Kelly

Labour Court ·

In 2001, the Labour Court recommended that the South Eastern Health Board, the Irish Nurses' Organisation and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union hold constructive discussions on a schedule for adding hospital staff. The talks were to be completed by 20 November 2001. The dispute concerned staffing at St John's Hospital and Ely Hospital in Enniscorthy, where a review identified a need for 44 additional nursing and non-nursing posts. The unions sought phased implementation, while the Board said it lacked funding and could not commit to further posts before receiving its 2002 allocation.
