In 2001, the Labour Court recommended that the Amalgamated Transport And General Workers' Union accept Irish Flavours & Fragrances' shift-working offer, with changes to lead-in payments. The Court signed its recommendation on 13 November. The company sought to introduce two-shift working for six employees at its Drogheda plant. The union had sought a 25% shift premium and an introductory payment of £15,000 for its members. The Court recommended that £350 and £900 lead-in payments be made without offsetting them against compensation for lost overtime. It also recommended that the employer provide affected workers with examples showing the financial effect of its pension proposal.
