In 2002, the Labour Court recommended that Bohemians Football Club offer a worker €2,500 in settlement after finding it failed to follow normal employment practice and disciplinary procedures before dismissing him. The recommendation was dated 15 July 2002. The club said the worker refused proper directions and would play only on his own terms. The union disputed that account, saying he was concerned about comments attributed to the manager in newspapers and was prepared to travel with the club. The Court rejected the club's argument that the dispute was not a trade dispute and said the differences did not justify summary dismissal.
