The Labour Court recommended that South East Radio recognise the National Union of Journalists’ right to represent its members in employment relations, including pay and conditions negotiations. The recommendation was signed on 13 December 2002. The union said it represented all the station’s journalists and sought recognition for collective bargaining. South East Radio preferred to deal directly with employees. The Court recommended that the parties agree a framework for engagement, using the Labour Relations Commission’s services if needed.
