The Labour Court did not recommend conceding Mandate’s claim for an incremental pay scale for staff in Sodexho’s catering contracts at 19 Superquinn locations. The recommendation was signed on 7 May 2003. Sodexho offered hourly rates of €8.03 for food service assistants and €10.19 for chefs, supervisors and second chefs from 1 April 2003. Mandate sought a scale linked to Superquinn sales assistant pay, including progression by service. The Court found no justification for applying retail rates to contract catering work and said the claim was cost-increasing and precluded by the PPF/Sustaining Progress terms.
