Labour Court recommends one-day suspension for Bus Eireann driver

By Rory Hanlon

Labour Court ·

The Labour Court recommended reducing a Bus Eireann driver's suspension to one day, after an internal appeal had reduced it from one week to two days. The recommendation was dated 7 May 2003. The driver disputed responsibility for a cash shortage. The Court said he was not justified in withholding company money, but recommended that the parties establish the facts and agree any amount due. The €30 already paid was to be retained by the company pending that exercise. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union represented the worker.
