The Labour Court did not recommend that Waterford City Council concede a worker’s claim over its Fixed Travel Allowance scheme, saying the Council had not acted unreasonably. The recommendation was signed on 5 December 2003. The worker said the scheme had been administered unfairly and incorrectly, causing financial loss. The Council said the allowance was normally calculated using mileage over a continuous 13-week period and that making a further exception would set a precedent.
