Labour Court recommends new pay scale for St. Catherine’s College librarian

By Rory Hanlon

Labour Court ·

The Labour Court recommended that St. Catherine’s College implement an assessor’s seven-point pay scale for its librarian, with the worker placed on the second point from 1 December 1998. It said she should have reached the seventh point by 1 December 2003, and that retrospective payments should be made without delay. The recommendation was signed on 1 March 2003. The Irish Federation of University Teachers had sought to place the worker at the maximum point of the Church of Ireland College of Education scale from 1 January 1998. The college said it had accepted the assessor’s report and argued that the union’s claim could raise costs for other librarians in the education sector.
