The Labour Court recommended that the National Bus & Rail Union and Services Industrial Professional Technical Union accept Dublin Bus’s 20 July 2004 offer of compensation for staff transferring to the new Harristown garage and between existing garages. The unions said the offer did not adequately address the inconvenience, lost leisure time and extra costs of the moves. Dublin Bus said it had increased the offer three times and added lump sums. The Court recommended paying the compensation when staff took up positions in their new garages. The parties had settled their separate dispute about bus routes before the recommendation was signed on 29 October 2004.
