The Labour Court recommended reinstating Elastometall’s 24 September 2003 offer, amended so the summer bonus would cover all staff with more than five years’ service. The recommendation was dated 9 March 2005. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had pursued an increase in VHI contributions for workers with more than three years’ service and a 5% pay increase for multi-skilled workers with more than five years’ service who could train new staff. The company had proposed a guaranteed Christmas bonus, a summer bonus for staff with more than 10 years’ service and extra leave days; the union rejected those proposals. The Court recommended that the union accept the company’s offer with the change to summer bonus eligibility.
