In 2005, the Labour Court recommended that Mary Immaculate College regrade its Building Maintenance Manager post to Grade VII. The worker, who was represented by the Irish Municipal, Public and Civil Trade Union, had been at the equivalent of Grade VI. The College had said the claim breached the public sector pay agreement. The Court considered it a minor claim outside the agreement's stabilisation provisions and said the additional duties performed since the worker's appointment in 1998 gave the claim merit.
