The Labour Court recommended that Limerick City Council’s 9/15-hour roster become the established roster for its fire service, following a dispute with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union over a claim by five fire officers to remain on 24-hour shifts. Before affected staff move to the roster, the Court recommended intensive discussions between the Council and the union to resolve outstanding concerns. The recommendation was signed on 7 March 2007.
